Benona Clayborn,
a third generation artist, spent his youth rejected by the public school
system, repeating various grades and reliving one scenario of scholastic
failure after another. “The boy just ain’t gittin' it”
a counselor once said.
“Looking back I can
now safely say, I’m greatfull that I didn’t get it. I probably
would have ended up in some way-to-normal job, only to hang myself in
a closet. Thank you Lord for giving us art. Amen.”
